Perceived Barriers in the Implementation of BS 4-Years Health and Physical Education Curriculum in the Colleges of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pakistan

Abstract

Purpose: The present study aimed to investigate the teacher’s attitude and perceived barriers in the implementation of BS 4-years health and physical education curriculum in the colleges of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pakistan. The study assessed the extent to which the concern existing resources, facilitators, and trainer attitude influences life skills acquisition among student-athletes.


Materials: The population of this study consisted of both male and female teachers of BS 4-years in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa colleges. The population for the study is finite, therefore; the researcher collected the required information from all those colleges where the BS 4-Years health and physical education program has been introduced. The researcher developed and used a self-made structured questionnaire encompassing the proposed variables of the study. A total of 28 questionnaires were distributed to 18 males and 10 female Lecturer, Health and Physical Education while, 24 questionnaires were received back, which the researcher entertained in data analysis.


Results: No statistical variation based on the gender and age of respondents were found in respect of the institutional barrier in the implementation of curriculum designed for BS 4-Years. (P > .05). Results of the study indicated insignificant gender variations while, significant differences were found on the teachers’ related barrier in the implementation of curriculum designed for BS 4-Years. (P > .05). LPEs possess no statistical variation in students’ related barrier based on their gender and age in the implementation of BS 4-Years health and physical education curriculum. (P > .05)


conclusions: The analyzed data indicated that lack of professional training, lack or insufficient qualified existing staff, and available infrastructure to achieve objectives designed by HEC were determined barriers in the implementation of BS 4-years HPE curriculum.
