Abstract

In this exploratory study concerning autism and Autism Spectrum Disorder (often referred to as ASD), there are numerous myths and misunderstandings. These misconceptions have not only influenced how the general public perceives individuals with autism but also how autism is researched and addressed in social contexts. The purpose of this study is to clarify common misunderstandings about various aspects of autistic people’s lives, such as socialization, behavior, communication, and education in South Punjab, Pakistan. Each component explores different myths and misconceptions that people have regarding children with Autism Spectrum Disorder. The findings of this research indicate that individuals with varying levels of exposure to and understanding of autism tend to harbor false views about the disorder.
