Abstract

The Holy Qur'an is a book of guidance from Allah Almighty for all mankind until the Day of Judgment. Regarding this book, Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) said in his last sermon that as long as the members of the Muslim Ummah maintain their relationship with this book, they will always be successful and efficient, and when they leave this book, they will be unsuccessful and useless. The Muslims of this book Rushdo Hidayat have performed various services, are giving and this series will continue till doomsday. Apart from Muslims, non-Muslims, especially Orientalists, have also done various works on the Holy Qur'an, but they do not have the same goals behind their work as the goals of Muslims. Whatever the works done by the Orientalists, they have become famous in the academic circles. Now there is no shortage of scholars who are not aware of the scholarly struggle of Orientalists, their research achievements and their impact. So far, we are generally unaware of the attitudes of the Orientalists and the relevance of their scholarly works with reference to Islamic studies in general and the study of the Qur'an in particular. It is necessary that people related to Islamic studies are aware of the scholarly works of Orientalists, especially their efforts regarding the Holy Qur'an.
